Green Tourism

 Our Green Awareness Visitor Charter

At Hembury Court we are committed to a more sustainable future and we try to do everything we can to reduce our negative impact on the environment without compromising on your experience as a visitor.

We hope that you can help us to achieve our environmental goals and still enjoy a relaxing and luxurious holiday in the beautiful Devon countryside. Hembury Court is proud to be part of the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

You will be shown our innovative recycling centre and the adjacent ‘Green Johanna' waste food composter. The food caddies in the kitchens allow you to recycle waste food. All of the materials that you recycle reduce the amount of waste that we send to landfill, on your behalf.

We have installed low energy light bulbs wherever possible and most of the outside lights are controlled by PIR. We value your help in switching off lights in the cottages and the Green Oak Barns whenever they are not being used.

The central heating at Hembury Court is controlled by time clocks. Individual rooms in the cottages can be controlled by the radiator thermostats. The Oak Cruck and the South Oak Centre, which have underfloor heating, are controlled by time clocks and room thermostats.

We value your help by keeping doors and windows closed wherever possible, when the central heating is working.

The hot tub is heated by electricity and we appreciate your help by closing the lid when the hot tub is not being used.

We hope that your holiday experience can be enhanced by working with us to reduce the impact on our environment.
